Goaltender expected to miss a week

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres placed goaltender Mika Noronen on injured reserve Tuesday.

Noronen, who injured his groin in a 2-1 loss to Carolina on
Monday, will be out for at least a week.

Buffalo recalled goalie Ryan Miller from Rochester of the AHL.

Noronen has taken over the No. 1 goaltending duties after
starting seven of the last eight games for Buffalo. In 21 games, he
has an 8-9-1 record with a 2.05 goals-against average and two
shutouts.

Miller will make his third appearance this year with Buffalo.
Martin Biron, Buffalo's No. 2 goalie, is 6-8-2 in 17 games and
hasn't won a start since Nov. 17.

Forward J.P. Dumont, who has been sidelined since injuring his
hip against Carolina on Dec. 26, won't play against Washington on
Wednesday but may return for Friday's game against Anaheim.
