Ferris St. 7, Mass.-Lowell 4

MADISON, Wis. -- Derek Nesbitt scored two goals, the second
stopping a three-goal Massachusetts-Lowell rally, and Ferris State
beat the River Hawks 7-4 Saturday in semifinals of the Badger
Hockey Showdown.

Ferris State (7-8-2) advanced to Sunday's championship game
against the winner of Saturday night's game between Wisconsin and
Union of New York. Lowell (7-8-3) will play in the third-place
game.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 20 minutes,
22 seconds, only to have Lowell get goals from Ben Walter, Danny
O'Brien and Mark Pandolfo to cut the advantage to one.

But just 36 seconds after Pandolfo's goal, Nesbitt scored to
extend the margin to two.

O'Brien scored his second goal of the game in the third period
to make it 5-4, but Mike Kinnie scored unassisted just over four
minutes later to once again put Ferris State ahead by two.

Mike Brown made 34 saves for the Bulldogs.

Paul Mammola stopped 11 of the 13 shots he faced after taking
over for Chris Davidson (nine saves) 22 seconds into the second
period.
