Students complain lack of tickets; Adams has 150

ATHENS, Ga. -- To the 7,960 University of Georgia students
who didn't win the lottery for a ticket to Saturday's SEC
championship: Try hitting up school president Michael Adams for
one.

Adams has 150 tickets to give to friends, university donors and
others, although "I'm sure I could handle requests for 10 times
that many," he said Tuesday.

Only 3,000 tickets for the game at the 71,228-capacity Georgia
Dome were reserved for students at Georgia and LSU, which split
them evenly.

Students have complained about the lack of tickets and the
lottery system. Last year, students camped out for tickets on a
first-come, first-served basis.

"There's simply no perfect system," student ticket manager
Kelly Lawrence told The Red & Black, the student newspaper.
"Camping out is great for the die-hard fan, but inconvenient for
those with tests and busy schedules. It's a tough situation when we
get this low number of tickets."

The president has no say in ticket allotments.

"We could probably fill four or five Georgia Domes Saturday
night ... I bet we could sell a half million tickets," Adams said.
"I regret the demand is so great relative to supply, but I have no
control over that."

Freshman Dan Dobras said students should receive more tickets.

"We're better fans than alumni -- because we do more than just
spend a lot of money -- we deserve them," he said.
