Soccer-Basel move 14 points clear with 2-1 win at St Gallen

GENEVA, Nov 30 - Pacesetters FC Basel beat St
Gallen 2-1 away on Sunday to take a 14-point lead into the Swiss
Super League's mid-season break.

Basel recorded their 17th win in 18 games thanks to goals
from Herve Tum and Scott Chipperfield to stretch their advantage
at the top of the standings.

The league leaders, who have collected 52 points, had
striker Julio Hernan Rossi dismissed 15 minutes from time but St
Gallen were unable to take advantage.

Second-placed Young Boys were held 3-3 at champions
Grasshoppers to lose further ground to Basel, while Servette
stayed third after a 1-0 win over Neuchatel Xamax.

Grasshoppers lie seventh in the 10-team table after a
disastrous start to the season, 32 points adrift of Basel.
