Snow wants to stay in Philly

PHILADELPHIA -- Eric Snow and the 76ers agreed Friday on a four-year contract extension that will keep the point guard in Philadelphia through the 2008-09 season.

Terms were not announced, but the extension begins in the 2005-06 season.

Snow, 6-foot-3, 203 pounds, is coming off the best season of his
eight-year career, averaging a career-best 12.9 points with a
team-leading 6.7 assists.

Snow, noting the extension probably would be his last NBA contract, said he was glad he would be playing alongside Allen Iverson for the rest of his career.

``That is what we wanted. We love playing together, and we love playing here,'' Snow said. ``Now we don't have to worry about free agency. We can just worry about playing together, getting better individually, helping this team get better and help this team win a championship.''

Coach Randy Ayers said he was glad that Snow's contract was
extended so it wouldn't hang ``over our heads the entire year.''

``Now we can buckle down and really fine-tune what we need to
do,'' Ayers said.

Snow's agent, Steve Kauffman, said his client wanted to finish his career in Philadelphia.

"He doesn't have any desire to desert the ship," Kauffman said
Friday. "It's more important for him to be happy."

Kauffman said he approached team president Billy King about an
extension in July. Snow is the third Sixer to get a new deal since
the end of last season.

Kenny Thomas re-signed with the team, and last week Iverson agreed to a four-year extension that expires in 2008-09.

Snow was a second-round pick by Milwaukee in 1995, but never
played for the Bucks. He was traded to Seattle and spent 2½ years
with the Sonics, then was traded to Philadelphia in January 1998.
