PARIS -- The French Golf Federation ruled that traces of steroids in Marc Farry's drug test at the French Open were medically justified.
Farry has said the positive test in June was due to a cortisone injection and anti-inflammatory pills he had been given to treat a wrist injury.
The French medical commission said the detected substance did not contain ''any active doping product,'' Hubert Chesnau, director general of the federation said Tuesday.
Farry, who tied for 37th in the tournament, was one of six golfers who submitted to the voluntary check by France's Sports Ministry in June.
The French Open marked the first time drug tests were conducted on the European tour. Similar tests have been done at many events in France, including the French Open tennis championships.
