U.S. Ski Team promotes Riml to women's coach

PARK CITY, Utah -- The U.S. Ski Team promoted Patrick Riml to coach of the national women's team and appointed Mike Morin to coach the men's slalom and giant slalom Tuesday.

Riml coached the U.S. women on the Europa Cup circuit the last three seasons. He replaces Marjan Cernigoj, who resigned after 11 years with the U.S. team.

"This is very exciting for me. We've got some young but very strong girls coming up to go with our veterans,'' said Riml, a former assistant on the Austrian national team staff. "It's a big challenge, but we also have an awesome young team, some girls with huge potential, as they showed this past season.''

Morin, who coached the men's Europa Cup team last season, replaces Martin Andersen, who resigned Monday to pursue opportunities closer to his home in Norway.

"Mike's hard work and success within our program speaks for
itself,'' U.S. coach Phil McNichol said. "He has experience in our
program, from the junior development level through the Europa Cup
and World Cup circuits.''

Former U.S. assistant Thomas Erhard will replace Morin as Europa
Cup coach.
