Taking care of everyone else first -- then Duke

(Editor's note: Tennessee senior Kara Lawson will share a diary with ESPN.com throughout the NCAA Tournament.)

April 1, 2003

This has definitely been one of the most hectic days of the semester. Advancing to the Final Four is an incredible adrenaline rush, but it creates long "to do" lists the day after.

I do not have any classes on Tuesdays and Coach Summitt gave the team Tuesday off, so my day was spent preparing everyone else for Atlanta. I searched for airline tickets on the Internet, made hotel reservations, turned in my ticket list, talked to just about every person I've ever met in my whole life on my cell phone, and wrote this diary.

I wanted to make it to the bank today but I did not finish running my errands until after 5 p.m. The best way for me to focus on the games is to devote one whole day to everybody else and have one stressful day trying to accommodate
and talk to everyone. After that it is time for business. From Wednesday on, all I will be focusing on is Duke.

It was an amazing atmosphere inside Thompson-Boling Arena last night. I am grateful for the opportunity that both Gwen (Jackson) and I had to close out our careers at home by winning the Mideast Regional and advancing to the Final Four. I will always remember my last game in that arena in front of all the fans. It was pretty sweet cutting down the nets of the baskets you shoot on every day.

I am so ready for the game on Sunday. I cannot wait. Hopefully we will keep on winning. Talk to you later.
