Gray suffered injury against top-ranked Duke

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest freshman guard Justin Gray will undergo surgery Monday, one night after suffering a fractured jaw in a loss to top-ranked Duke.

Ironically, Sunday's 74-55 defeat marked the first time Gray did not start after reporting late to a team function earlier in the week.

The 6-foot-2 Gray is averaging 10.5 points and is seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference at 4.0 assists per game. He is sidelined indefinitely and considered "extremely doubtful" for Wednesday's game against 15th-ranked Maryland.

"This is certainly an obstacle for our team," coach Skip Prosser said. "But this is the hand we've been dealt and we need to find a way to win (without him)."

The Demon Deacons are 10-1, 0-1 in the ACC.
