SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) -- Lindsay Taylor had 18 points and 12
rebounds, and California-Santa Barbara (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today; No. 22 Associated Press) benefited from 27-percent
shooting by Brigham Young in a 65-51 victory Thursday.
Mia Fisher added 13 points for the Gauchos (6-2), who took the
lead for good with an early 12-0 run. Brigham Young (7-4), led by
Jennifer Leitner's 18 points and 17 rebounds, got no closer than
eight points thereafter.
The Gauchos, who led by 10 points at the break, opened the
second half with a 15-4 run to make it 50-29 with 14:40 remaining.
Lisa Willett scored seven of her 12 points in the spurt, making a
3-pointer and two layups.
Danielle Cheesman added 14 points for the Cougars.
