Rules: Modified Rotisserie Scoring Overview

There are two different scoring systems in FGA '02 -- Modified Rotisserie and Head-to-Head. Both league types use the same scoring system to generate a golfers score for a tournament, though they differ in how your golfer's performance is ultimately relfected against your leaguemates. Each week (tournament) you are faced with a maximum of 16 rounds (4 golfers each tournament round) and a minimum of 8 (you are not required to have 4 golfers going for your team each day). You may start 4 on Thursday and then decide that only 3 members of your team are worth starting the rest of the way (you don't want golfers who are not playing well to count for your total score). In this instance you would record 13 total rounds that week. another example is that you may decide to start no one on the first day of the US Open as a way of seeing who is playing the best on your team. Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (total 12 rounds possible) you would need some combination of 8 rounds to qualify for earnings.

We will take a look at the Modified Rotissere option first. The team's statistics are generated only by golfers on the team's active roster. Benched golfers do not contribute towards team statistics each round.

Below is a brief breakdown on how earnings are awarded each week:

Tournament Earnings
Your team will earn tournament prize money based on how well it performs against the other members of your league each week. The amount of money available each week to earn will miror the purse of the PGA even that week. For a list of tournaments and their purses visit the Tournament Breakdown page. The team that finishes a tournament with the lowest combined score versus par will be deemed the winner. The team with the second lowest score versus par will be considered the second place finisher and so on. Lets say Team One starts Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and Cameron Beckman on day one of the Colonial and they shoot -5, -1 and E respectively. Team One's overall score after one round of play is -6. Team Two starts Phil Mickelson, Kenny Perry, Matt Kuchar and Chris Smith and they shoot -4, -3, -1 and +3. Then Team Two would have an overall score of -5. And so on for teams 3 - 8. You would then add the second round scores to the first rounds scores and so on through Sunday's final round. The team with the lowest score versus par overall at the end of Sunday's round is deemed to winner of that tournament. Note: While you have some flexibility with the number of rounds your team records each tournament, you must have a minimum of 8 to qualify for earnings. If your team fails to garner the necessary eight rounds, you will be considered to have missed the cut that week and be ineligible for prize money. Prize money will be given out to the finish positions based on a percentage. The percentage being a percentage of that week's tournament purse.

    1st - 33%
    2nd - 22%
    3rd - 15%
    4th - 10%
    5th - 8%
    6th - 6%
    7th - 4%
    8th - 2%
    -----------
MC - 0% (failure to record at least 8 rounds in a tournament)

Lets take a look at a couple of earnings distribution examples using The Colonial as our tournament. The Colonial has an overall purse of $4.3 Million. The first example assumes there are no ties.

    1st - $1,419,000
    2nd - $946,000
    3rd - $645,000
    4th - $430,000
    5th - $344,000
    6th - $258,000
    7th - $172,000
    8th - $86,000

This next example shows how the earnings distribution works when there are ties involved. For the purpose of this example we will assume that 3 owners tied for third place at the Colonial. As you can see, when there are ties the prize is distributed a little differently. In the example below we take the prize money normally designated for positions 3, 4, and 5 and add them up (in this example no team finishes in the 3rd, 4th or 5th place position). We would then divide this sum by 3 (the number of teams tied) and each of the teams would recieve a third, or $473,000. The next teams in the finish order would receive the normal 6th place prize money.

    1 - $1,419,000
    2 - $946,000
    3 - $473,000
    3 - $473,000
    3 - $473,000
    6 - $258,000
    7 - $172,000
    8 - $86,000

Determining League Champion
In Modified Rotisserie leagues, following the final day of the FGA 2002 season on Sunday, August 25, the team with the most overall earnings is declared the league champion. If two or more teams tie for their Modified Rotisserie league championship, they are declared co-champions and each is awarded the League Winner's prizes.

Determining Overall Champion
Each league is assigned league points, based on the relative earnings output of their league relative to the rest of the leagues in Fantasy Golf. Teams are ranked based on this earnings total. Each league has a League Points page which outlines its performance versus the rest of the leagues in the game. Overall team rankings are determined by adding league points to an individual's team points to produce a total. The team that has the highest adjusted score is declared the overall winner for Modified Rotisserie prizes. In the event of a tie, a team's League Points will be carried out to as many decimal points to determine a winner. Note that residents of certain states are not eligible to win overall prizes. Please see the Legal Restrictions for details.
