Lyon midfielder Youann Gourcuff is set to face three months out of action with a knee injury, the club announced on Monday.
Gourcuff, 26, left the pitch after just 12 minutes of his side's 4-1 victory over Troyes on Saturday, with a statement later detailing the extent of the problem.
"Yoann Gourcuff underwent an MRI on Monday morning which revealed a sprained right knee with an injury to his medial collateral ligament,'' the club's official website announced.
"He is expected to spend between six weeks and three months out, depending on how the injury responds.''
Gourcuff had shown signs of good early season form, scoring the only goal in the club's opening day 1-0 victory over Rennes.
However, the midfielder's rotten run of injuries has continued and he is not expected to return until October at the earliest.
