OAKLAND, Calif. -- Trey Canard raced to his first AMA Supercross victory in nearly four years by winning the 450SX Class final Saturday night.

Team Honda's Canard, who passed Chad Reed on the sixth lap at O.co Coliseum, most recently won in April 2011 in Arlington, Texas.

"I don't know what to say," Canard said. "I didn't think I would be on the podium after the first few laps. It was busy out there. It has been a long haul to get here on top of the podium, and I am really happy about it."

Geico Honda's Malcolm Stewart won for the first time in the Western Regional 250SX Class Championship.

Ken Roczen, who came in as the points leader with two wins, passed Reed on the first lap but didn't have the momentum to clear the triple jump, and he crashed upon landing. He finished 16th overall.

Red Bull/KTM's Ryan Dungey finished second, while Reed finished third.

"All things considered, tonight's track was really tough," Dungey said. "I wanted to make up some ground on Trey for the lead, but it didn't work out. It's nice to take over the points lead, but the season is still young."

In the 250SX, Justin Hill crashed on the seventh lap and turned the lead over to Stewart. On the last lap, Cooper Webb passed Alex Martin for second place and earned his third consecutive podium finish.

Martin finished third, the first podium of his career.
