Friend to race Kevin Ward Jr.'s car

OHSWEKEN, Ontario -- The No. 13 car belonging to the young sprint car driver who was struck and killed by three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart's car will race again this weekend.

Ohsweken Speedway race director Doug Leonard says Kevin Ward Jr.'s friend, Dylan Swiernik, will drive Ward's car in the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at the Ontario track on Saturday.

Leonard says about 20 of Ward's relatives will attend. A Friday night tribute race called the Kevin Ward Jr. Young Stars Challenge was also planned.

It's the first time that Ward's car will race since he was killed Aug. 9 after climbing out of his car during a nighttime race in Canandaigua, New York, to apparently confront Stewart on the track.

Authorities are expected to say next week whether Stewart may face charges.
