The St. Louis Blues have re-signed Barret Jackman to a three-year, $9.5 million deal, a source confirmed to ESPN.com's Scott Burnside on Monday.

The defenseman was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent July 1.

Jackman struggled during the playoffs, but Blues general manager Doug Armstrong has said the team still valued his contributions.

"He's a player that we told him we appreciate what he's done here," Armstrong said.

Jackman was among a trio of Blues defensmen set to hit the free-agent market next month, which also included Carlo Colaiacovo and Kent Huskins.

"We have to make decisions internally or look externally via trade or free agency," Armstrong has said. "We do need to improve the left side of our defense."
