USA Hockey has named New Jersey Devils forward Kyle Palmieri to its World Cup of Hockey roster, replacing the injured Ryan Callahan. Palmieri recorded a career-high 30 goals, 27 assists and 57 points last season and signed a $23.25 million, five-year deal this summer. Among U.S.-born players, only the Chicago Blackhawks' Patrick Kane and the San Jose Sharks' Joe Pavelski scored more goals last season. In 280 NHL games, the 25-year-old has 73 goals and 73 assists. U.S. general manager Dean Lombardi said Palmieri "brings an all-around game that we're confident will fit nicely.'' Named to the original roster, Callahan underwent surgery in June to repair a labral tear in his right hip. He's expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
