Hurricanes reach 2-way deals with 5 restricted free agents

NHL, Carolina Hurricanes

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with all five of their restricted free agents.

General manager Ron Francis on Thursday said defenseman Ryan Murphy has agreed to a two-year contract worth nearly $1.6 million. That deal came after forwards Brendan Woods and Brody Sutter and defensemen Dennis Robertson and Keegan Lowe agreed to one-year, two-way contracts.

Murphy, the last of the team's restricted free agents, will make $750,000 this season and $825,000 in 2017-18. He had 10 assists in 35 games with Carolina this season.

Lowe's contract will be worth $750,000 in the NHL while Robertson and Woods each will earn $650,000 and Sutter will be paid $600,000. In the minor leagues, Sutter will make $115,000 while Lowe and Woods will earn $80,000 apiece and Robertson will make $75,000.
