The five best value free agent signings in the NHL this summer

What can GMs find in the free-agent market for $2 million? Normally those kinds of low-cost contracts are reserved for depth players and/or those on entry-level contracts, but the NHL's shrewdest front offices can gain a competitive advantage by securing key talent for the same price.

Examining more than 100 new contracts that carry a cap hit of $2 million or less, and setting aside restricted free agents, contract extensions and those on entry-level contracts, the five best value signings of the summer were identified by projecting each player's performance, and considering how well they addressed the team's needs.
