Angry Montreal Canadiens fan returns team jersey after Subban trade

Nashville Predators, Montreal Canadiens

The hockey world was surprised Thursday when the Montreal Canadiens traded star defenseman P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators for fellow defenseman Shea Weber.

Subban had become one of the faces of the franchise and a fan favorite in his six-plus seasons manning the blue line for the Habs.

The trade upset one fan, Julie Martin, so much that she felt compelled to return the jersey she bought. She also sent a message to the team -- written on the jersey. According to a Reddit user, the jersey was found on the statue of Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau outside the Bell Centre.

On the logo, she wrote:

You can have this once-beloved jersey back. I have no more use for it. Once a fan, now so disappointed. -- Julie Martin

Under the logo, she wrote:

The worst trade since Patrick Roy. Hoping PK Subban thrives in Nashville! He deserved better, and so do Habs fans. Stop making such huge mistakes.

The fan base will have to get used to Weber in a Canadiens jersey. He has 10 years remaining on his contract.
