Ryan Callahan is out of the World Cup of Hockey for Team USA after undergoing hip surgery, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced Tuesday. Callahan is out five months, the team said, in recovery from right hip surgery to repair a labral tear. The veteran winger was one of the final seven roster additions May 27 by Team USA. Team USA did not immediately announce a roster replacement for the September World Cup. The biggest roster snub among forwards was Phil Kessel of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who was effective in the NHL this spring in helping his club win the Stanley Cup.
