Devils sign Boston College defenseman Steven Santini

NEWARK, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils have signed Boston College defenseman Steven Santini and forward Miles Wood to three-year entry-level contracts that will start this season.

The Devils said Friday that the 21-year-old Santini and 20-year-old Wood will report to New Jersey on Saturday for the morning skate. New Jersey will finish its season against Toronto on Saturday night.

Boston College finished its season Thursday night with a 3-2 loss to Quinnipiac in the NCAA semifinals in Tampa, Florida.

Santini finished his junior season with a goal and 18 assists in 41 games, and had five goals and 30 assists in 98 games in three seasons. From Mahopac, New York, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound defenseman was drafted 42nd overall in 2013.

Wood had 10 goals and 25 assists in 37 games as a freshman. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward from Manchester, Massachusetts, was drafted 100th overall in 2013. His father, Randy, played in the NHL for the New York Islanders, Buffalo, Toronto and Dallas.

The Devils also signed and Sarnia defenseman Joshua Jacobs to a three-year, entry-level contract that will begin next season. The 20-year-old Jacobs will report to the Albany of the American Hockey League on an amateur try-out agreement.

Drafted 41st overall in 2014, he had four goals and 20 assists in 67 games this season for Sarnia in the Ontario Hockey League. The 6-foot-2, 20-pound defenseman from Shelby Township, Michigan, spent the 2014-15 season with Michigan State.
