Boston Bruins goalie prospect Malcolm Subban suffered a fractured larynx during a minor league game Saturday night and is in stable condition at Massachusetts General Hospital, the team announced Sunday.
Subban, 22, was struck in the throat by a puck Saturday during pregame warm-ups for the AHL's Providence Bruins in Portland, Maine. He was transported to Maine Medical Center and was admitted overnight for observation. On Sunday, he was transported to Mass General for further evaluation.
Subban will be sidelined indefinitely. The team said it would provide additional details when they become available.
A first-round draft pick of the Bruins in 2012, Subban is 14-8-5 with a .911 save percentage in 27 games with Providence this season.
Subban, the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens star P.K. Subban, tweeted a photo of himself from the hospital Sunday night.
