Penguins' Evgeni Malkin to miss 2 games with lower-body injury

NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin will miss at least two games because of a nagging lower-body injury, coach Mike Sullivan told reporters Thursday.

Malkin, who ranks among the league leaders with 23 goals and 49 points, will not travel with the team for games against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday and at the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

Sullivan said he will stay in Pittsburgh to rehab the injury, and the team will evaluate his status when they return. The Penguins host the Ducks on Monday.

In addition, Sullivan said the Penguins will be without Eric Fehr for "probably a month" as he has a "significant" lower-body injury.

"It's going to be longer-term," Sullivan said. "It's not season-ending. It's nothing that severe. But it's significant enough that it's going to be longer-term."
