Leafs' James van Riemsdyk out 6-8 weeks with fractured foot

Toronto Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk will miss six to eight weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot, the team announced Monday.

Van Riemsdyk, 26, has 14 goals and 15 assists for the Maple Leafs in 40 games. His 29 points lead the team.

He has been a durable player for the Leafs, missing just two games since being acquired in a 2012 trade from the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Maple Leafs also announced they have called up forward Josh Leivo from their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

The 22-year-old Leivo, an AHL All-Star this season, has 11 goals and 19 assists in 35 games.
