David Krejci is 'week-to-week' with upper-body injury

The Boston Bruins will be without top-line center David Krejci for the foreseeable future, according to coach Claude Julien.

Julien told reporters after the team's practice Monday at TD Garden that Krejci is considered "week-to-week."

The Bruins placed Krejci on injured reserve Tuesday, recalling forward Seth Griffith from Providence of the AHL.

Krejci suffered an upper-body injury during the second period of Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. He was seen leaving TD Bank Garden with his arm in a sling Sunday.

Krejci, 29, has 11 goals and a team-leading 22 assists for 33 points in 35 games this season. He was limited to 47 games in 2014-2015 due to injuries and was hoping to play a full season.

"We don't have a player that exactly brings what [Krejci] brings," Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara told reporters Monday. "But we have players that can contribute with work ethic and commitment."

Julien indicated that Ryan Spooner would replace Krejci as the center on Boston's second line, between Matt Beleskey and Loui Eriksson.

"I think [it] is a challenge [Spooner] should relish and he should want to have as a player," Julien said.
