Wild's Zach Parise expected to miss at least two games

NHL, Minnesota Wild

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Wild star forward Zach Parise is expected to miss at least two games because of a sprained MCL in his right knee.

The Wild revealed the diagnosis on Parise's knee Saturday, announcing that he will be evaluated "on a week-by-week basis."

Wild coach Mike Yeo said Friday that he did not think Parise had suffered a long-term injury.

"I can say it's not something that is going to be month to month," Yeo said after the team's practice on Friday. "I shouldn't guarantee that. ... Hopefully he's back sooner than later, but like I said, I don't have a time frame for you guys. All I can tell you right now is he's out the next couple games."

Parise suffered the injury during the first period of Thursday's game against the Nashville Predators. He was knocked into the boards from behind and fell to the ground. He left the game, later returned, played five more shifts and was ruled out of the game after the first period.

Parise has seven goals and two assists in 12 games this season.

Wild defenseman Nate Prosser also did not play in the Wild's 1-0 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday because of a back injury, according to Yeo.
