Blackhawks put Bryan Bickell on waivers; Marko Dano sent to minors

Scratch one of the seven current Chicago Blackhawks from the roster that won three titles in Chicago. Forward Bryan Bickell was placed on waivers on Friday, according to multiple reports.

The move comes on the same day that the Blackhawks sent young forward Marko Dano to Rockford of the AHL. Dano, 20, was one of the key pieces Chicago received in the trade that sent Brandon Saad to Columbus this offseason. He had even been skating on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa early in camp, but it appears coach Joel Quenneville does not think he is ready for prime time.

The Blackhawks, who are strapped for cap space after their Stanley Cup victory, have been trying to move Bickell for months. If he clears waivers, the club would save $925,000 in cap space, according to multiple reports. Bickell had 14 goals and 14 assists last season, his eighth with the club.

Since Patrick Sharp was shipped to Dallas and now with Bickell hitting waivers, only Toews, Hossa, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Niklas Hjalmarsson remain from the Blackhawks' 2010, '13 and '15 championship teams.
