Predators sign defenseman Taylor Aronson to 1-year contract

NHL, Nashville Predators

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Taylor Aronson to a one-year, two-way contract after he accepted his qualifying offer.

The deal announced Monday will pay him $605,000 in the NHL or $65,000 in the minors.

The native of Placentia, California, was the 78th pick overall in the third round in the 2010 draft. He also has played two seasons with the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League.

Aronson, 23, had 29 assists in his first full season in the American Hockey League, for the Milwaukee Admirals, last season. The 6-foot-1, 196-pound Aronson also led the Admirals' defensemen with 32 points. He had 38 points in the ECHL with Cincinnati in 2013-14.

The Predators also announced Thursday they have renewed their affiliation with the ECHL's Cyclones.

The Cyclones function as a developmental affiliate for both Nashville and the AHL's Admirals, who serve as the Predators' primary developmental team.

Cincinnati has reached the ECHL postseason the past eight years it has been affiliated with the Predators, and five former Cyclones have played for the Predators in the NHL. The Cyclones won Kelly Cup championships in 2008 and 2010.
