The Los Angeles Kings signed unrestricted free-agent goalie Jhonas Enroth to a one-year, $1.25 million contract Wednesday.
Enroth will serve as the backup behind No. 1 goalie Jonathan Quick.
Less than a year after being promoted to the starter in net for the Buffalo Sabres, Enroth was traded in February to the Dallas Stars.
The 26-year-old Swede played only 13 games after the trade as backup to Kari Lehtonen, and Dallas missed the playoffs. He improved after the trade, logging a 2.38 goals-against average and slightly bumping his save percentage to 90.6 in seven starts with the Stars.
Enroth earned $403,225 last season to close the two-year $2.5 million contract he signed in the 2013 offseason.
Enroth has played in one playoff game in his six-year career -- with the Sabres in 2011.
He also won a gold medal for Sweden at the 2013 world championships and a silver medal from the Sochi Olympics.
The Kings needed a veteran goalie after trading Martin Jones to Boston last week in a deal for Milan Lucic.
