Mike Reilly to sign with Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild have landed college free agent defenseman Mike Reilly, an NHL source confirmed with ESPN.com on Friday.

Reilly, who can't officially sign with the Wild until July 1, picked Minnesota over the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks, according to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Reilly, a fourth-round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011, couldn't come to terms on a deal with the team after three seasons at the University of Minnesota, making him a free agent.

The offensively gifted defenseman had 42 points last season in 39 games for the Gophers and played for Team USA at the world championships in the Czech Republic. Reilly is a Minnesota native, and his father is a minority owner of the Wild.
