Canucks' Alex Burrows misses Game 4 with upper-body injury

CALGARY, Alberta -- Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows did not play Tuesday night after suffering an upper-body injury during the morning skate.

A source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that Burrows has an injury to his ribs.

The 34-year-old was in obvious pain when he was hurt. He quickly staggered off the ice, was put on a stretcher and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.

The team said on Twitter that he was taken to the hospital as a precaution but did not elaborate on the injury.

Canucks coach Willie Desjardins confirmed after Tuesday night's 3-1 loss to the Calgary Flames in Game 4 that Burrows was released from the hospital but was not traveling with the team back to Vancouver.

Burrows had two assists in three playoff games. He had 18 goals and 15 assists during the regular season.

The Canucks called up forward Sven Baertschi, but he did not play. He was acquired from Calgary at the March 2 trade deadline for a second-round draft pick.
