TAMPA -- Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader will miss Game 1 of the first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to Red Wings coach Mike Babcock.
Abdelkader missed the final four games of the regular season and remains day-to-day with a hand injury. He did participate in the team's optional morning skate Thursday at Amalie Arena.
In 71 games, Abdelkader compiled 23 goals and 21 assists.
With Abdelkader out, Babcock likely will have forwards Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg on the same line for Game 1.
