Canadiens D Subban ejected for slashing Stone

MONTREAL -- Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban was ejected from the first game of the Canadiens' first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday for a slash on Ottawa rookie Mark Stone.

Subban was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for slashing Stone midway in the second period.

With the puck near Carey Price's net, Subban lifted his stick in the air and chopped hard, bringing it down on Stone's right wrist. The 22-year-old Stone fell to the ice writing in agony, then skated off to the dressing room.

The Senators scored twice and gave up a short-handed goal on the ensuing power play.

Stone was back at the Senators' bench roughly 10 minutes after the incident, but left again in the third period. He came back a few minutes later.
