Miller leaves after face is cut by skate

NHL, Detroit Red Wings

Detroit forward Drew Miller left Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators early in the first period after being cut by Mark Stone's skate.

The Red Wings said Miller sustained two deep lacerations near his right eye but that he sustained no actual damage to the eye and his vision wasn't affected.

Coach Mike Babcock said Miller likely will have a "big-time scar." He was unsure if Miller would return Thursday when the team hosts the Boston Bruins.

The Red Wings also were missing center Pavel Datsyuk, who was scratched because of a lower-body injury. He played in the previous two games after returning from a five-game absence.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
