MONTREAL -- Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop had two assists, Vladislav Namestnikov scored two goals, and the Lightning clinched an Eastern Conference playoff berth with a 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.
Bishop started plays that set up breakaway goals by Namestnikov and Jonathan Drouin in the second period. Nikita Kucherov and Anton Stralman also scored for Tampa Bay, which trails Atlantic Division-leading Montreal by one point.
The Lightning won all five games this season against the Canadiens, outscoring them 21-8. Montreal swept Tampa Bay in the first round of last year's playoffs.
Bishop, who made 25 saves, is the first goalie with two assists in a game since Buffalo's Ryan Miller did it on Feb. 25, 2014.
Max Pacioretty, Jeff Petry and P.K. Subban scored for Montreal, which was outshot 31-13 through two one-sided periods and 44-28 overall. Carey Price stopped 39 shots.
BLACKHAWKS 4, KINGS 1
CHICAGO -- Defensemen Duncan Keith and Niklas Hjalmarsson scored 1:04 apart in the second period, and Chicago beat Los Angeles.
Marian Hossa added a goal and an assist as the Blackhawks won their second game in two nights and pulled within a point of second-place St. Louis in the Central Division. Chicago will face the Blues twice in its final six games.
Jake Muzzin scored for the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings, who dropped their second straight in the finale of a five-game road trip. They also lost ground to Calgary in their bid for a playoff berth in the West.
CANUCKS 4, BLUES 1
ST. LOUIS -- Radim Vrbata had a goal and assist, and Eddie Lack made 23 saves as Vancouver opened a four-game trip with a victory over struggling St. Louis.
Zbynek Michalek scored for the Blues, who never led and missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a victory. St. Louis has lost two straight at home, has one win its last six games overall, and remained one point shy of a seventh 100-point season.
Nick Bonino netted the go-ahead goal midway through the second period, just 31 seconds after the Blues tied it on Michalek's first goal since Jan. 31.
Shawn Matthias also scored for Vancouver, which strengthened its hold on second place in the Pacific Division.
FLAMES 5, STARS 3
DALLAS -- Jiri Hudler, Raphael Diaz and Johnny Gaudreau scored within a span of 6:49 of the second period, and Calgary held on to beat Dallas.
The third-place Flames moved three points ahead of Los Angeles in the Pacific Division.
Calgary led 4-2 after two periods. Jonas Hiller allowed a third-period goal to Dallas defenseman Jason Demers, but made 15 of his 36 saves in the final frame.
Dennis Wideman, Gaudreau and Hudler all had a goal and assist for Calgary, and Mikael Backlund added an empty-net goal with 7 seconds left.
Jason Spezza had a goal and an assist, and Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on 19 shots for Dallas before being replaced by Jhonas Enroth.
OILERS 4, AVALANCHE 1
DENVER -- Defenseman Justin Schultz broke a second-period tie, and Richard Bachman stopped 29 shots, helping Edmonton snap a five-game, road-losing streak by topping Colorado.
Brandon Davidson scored his first NHL goal, and Nikita Nikitin and Taylor Hall added empty-net goals 32 seconds apart to help Edmonton earn its first road victory since Feb. 24 at Minnesota. Andrew Miller had three assists.
Ryan O'Reilly scored for the Avalanche, who failed to gain ground as their postseason chances grew slimmer. They trail Winnipeg by eight points for the last wild-card spot in the Western Conference with six games remaining.
SABRES 4, COYOTES 1
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Andrej Meszaros scored two goals for the second straight game, and Buffalo ended a five-game losing streak by beating Arizona in a matchup between the NHL's worst two teams.
The Sabres, the NHL's lowest-scoring team, had a rare strong night on the offensive end, generating 31 shots in the first two periods against goalie Mike Smith.
Anders Lindback stopped 28 shots, and Brian Gionta and Rasmus Ristolainen each added empty-net goals in Buffalo's second win in 14 games (2-9-3).
Smith made some spectacular saves to keep it close, but it wasn't enough to stop Arizona from extending its home losing streak to eight -- one short of the franchise record set earlier this season.
Smith stopped 32 shots overall, and Connor Murphy scored for the Coyotes, who have won once in their past 18 home games (1-15-2).
