Islanders G Halak sits out with lower-body injury

CHICAGO -- New York Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak is sitting out against the Chicago Blackhawks because of a lower-body injury.

Halak, who established the team record and a career-best for wins this season, is listed as day-to-day, the Islanders say. He didn't make the trip to Chicago for Tuesday night's game.

The Islanders recalled Kevin Poulin from Bridgeport of the AHL on Tuesday to back up starter Michal Neuvirth.

Halak is 34-15-1 with a 2.46 goals-against average in 50 games this season.

Neuvirth, acquired by New York from Buffalo on March 2, played in his fourth game with the Islanders and second straight. He made 27 saves in the Islanders' 3-1 home loss to Montreal on Saturday night.
