Penguins Ian Cole, Ben Lovejoy

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Ian Cole from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Robert Bortuzzo and added Anaheim Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy in exchange for 23-year-old defenseman Simon Despres.

Cole is a 26-year-old defenseman who has appeared in 54 games for the Blues this season. He has four goals and nine points, as well as 44 penalty minutes. The Blues also get a 2016 seventh-round pick in the deal.

The 25-year-old Bortuzzo, also a defenseman, has 68 penalty minutes in 38 games for the Penguins this season.

Lovejoy, 31, is returning to Pittsburgh after the Penguins traded him to the Ducks in 2012.

"He's really blossomed," Pittsbrugh general manager Jim Rutherford said. "He's developed into a solid consistent defender. Our guys felt very strong about reacquiring this player."
