Ryan Miller out 4-6 weeks

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Vancouver Canucks goaltender Ryan Miller will be sidelined four to six weeks while he recovers from a lower-body injury, general manager Jim Benning confirmed to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun on Wednesday.

Miller left Sunday night's game against the New York Islanders with an apparent leg injury sustained early in the second period of his team's 4-0 victory.

Teammate Jannik Hansen ran into Miller in the crease. The goaltender was down and in pain after the collision and appeared to be flexing his right leg as he left the ice.

Backup Eddie Lack replaced Miller at 1:11 of the middle period.

Miller flew back to Vancouver on Monday to undergo an MRI. Goalie Jacob Markstrom was recalled from AHL Utica.

Before Sunday's injury, the 34-year-old Miller had been expected to return to play Buffalo when the Canucks visit the Sabres on Thursday. He played 11 seasons for Buffalo before he was traded to St. Louis late last season. He joined Vancouver as a free agent over the summer.
