Minnesota acquires Sean Bergenheim

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild acquired Florida Panthers forward Sean Bergenheim on Tuesday in exchange for a 2016 third-round draft choice.

Bergenheim has eight goals and 10 assists in 39 games this season. Minnesota will be the fourth team the Finland native has skated for in nine NHL seasons.

A source told ESPN.com's Katie Strang that Bergenheim was unhappy with his diminished role and declining minutes in Florida. Prior to his recent stint as a healthy scratch, his agent had requested a trade from Panthers general manager Dale Tallon.

Bergenheim adds depth to a Wild team that has gone 11-1-1 since the All-Star break and currently holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Wild also acquired a 2016 seventh-round pick from Florida in the deal.
