Ilya Bryzgalov placed on waivers

NHL, Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks placed goalie Ilya Bryzgalov on waivers Sunday.

He cleared waivers Monday, but it wasn't immediately clear what the Ducks' next move with the goaltender would be.

Bryzgalov hasn't played since allowing three goals on eight shots in a 6-2 loss at Florida on Feb. 10. The 34-year-old went 1-4-1 in eight appearances since signing a one-year, $2.88 million contract with Anaheim in December.

The Ducks were in need of goaltending depth behind Frederik Andersen after rookie John Gibson was sidelined by a groin injury.

Gibson has played six games since being called up Feb. 10 after a two-month stint in the minors. Andersen is day-to-day after missing six games with an upper-body injury.

ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
