The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned forward Teuvo Teravainen to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL on Thursday and recalled forward Ryan Hartman and defenseman Kyle Cumiskey.
Teravainen, the Blackhawks' 2012 first-round pick, had two goals, two assists and a minus-1 in 15 games since being recalled Jan. 2. He averaged 11 minutes, 35 seconds of ice time. He was a healthy scratch against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Teravainen's situation would be evaluated after Wednesday's game and left open the possibility of Teravainen returning to Rockford. Teravainen took part in a Blackhawks' optional practice Thursday.
"Things change quickly in our business," Quenneville said of Teravainen on Wednesday. "You never know. We'll just look at it tonight and see what happens. ... I know we can see how things evolve here. We want him playing, so we'll see."
Teravainen said earlier in the week he would understand if he was reassigned to the IceHogs. He had six goals, 17 assists and was a minus-3 in 33 games for Rockford before being recalled.
"I can't say [I'd be] disappointed," Teravainen said Monday. "There's some situations where I can do nothing about, so I play my best and that's all."
Hartman, the Blackhawks' 2013 first-round pick, has eight goals and 10 assists in 47 games with the IceHogs this season. He has not appeared in an NHL game.
Cumiskey has one goal and 10 assists in 38 games for the IceHogs. The Blackhawks signed him to a one-year deal in the offseason. He played in Sweden last season and has played in 132 career NHL games.
