Coyotes' Boedker has spleen removed after hard hit

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Arizona Coyotes leading scorer Mikkel Boedker is listed as week-to-week after having his spleen removed last weekend.

The left wing was injured in Sunday's game against Winnipeg after taking a hard hit. He kept playing, but later had to leave the game and had surgery later that night.

Boedker was out of the lineup Tuesday against Chicago, ending his consecutive games streak at 257 -- fourth-longest in team history.

The 25-year-old is Arizona's leading goal-scorer with 14 and had five goals in four games before being injured on Sunday. He also has 14 assists.

Boedker set career highs last season with 19 goals and 32 assists.
