Ryan Suter suspended 2 games

The struggling Minnesota Wild took another hit Wednesday, losing star defenseman Ryan Suter to a two-game suspension.

Suter elbowed Steve Downie of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the head in Tuesday night's game. He was not penalized at the time.

Suter's suspension is without pay. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and based on his average annual salary, Suter will forfeit $81,058.72. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Wild have lost 12 of their past 14 games entering Thursday night's match in Buffalo, including Tuesday's 7-2 loss to Pittsburgh.
