Wild acquire G Devan Dubnyk

NHL, Minnesota Wild, Arizona Coyotes

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Minnesota Wild have acquired goalie Devan Dubnyk from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a third-round pick this year, it was announced Wednesday.

The Wild (18-19-5) are tied for last in the NHL in save percentage with the Edmonton Oilers and goaltending has been a major reason for the team's struggles this season.

The team has lost 12 of their last 14 games and had lost a season-high six games in a row heading into Thursday night's game at Buffalo.

Dubnyk, 28, signed with Arizona during the offseason to serve as Mike Smith's backup has been the team's most consistent goalie. He has a 9-5-2 record, a 2.72 goals-against average and .916 save percentage in 19 games. Smith, in the second year of a six-year, $34 million contract, is 7-17-2, with a goals-against average of 3.52 and .885 save percentage.
