SUNRISE, Fla. -- Ryan McDonagh, Chris Kreider and Martin St. Louis had a goal and an assist each, and the New York Rangers got back to their winning ways with a 5-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night.
Derick Brassard, Martin St. Louis and Dominic Moore also scored for New York, and Derek Stepan had two assists. Henrik Lundqvist made 19 saves to earn the win.
The Rangers won their first game after having an eight-game winning streak snapped at Dallas on Monday. It was the longest run in 40 years for New York (20-11-4), which went 9-3 in December.
Tomas Fleischmann and Jimmy Hayes scored for Florida.
New York dominated play from the outset against Florida, which played for the second straight. The Panthers were outshot 24-12 through the first two periods and 34-21 overall.
The Rangers are 16-0-1 when they allow two goals or fewer.
ISLANDERS 5, JETS 2
WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Frans Nielsen scored two goals and added an assist, and the surging New York Islanders topped Winnipeg.
Ryan Strome had a goal and three assists, and Anders Lee and Josh Bailey also scored for New York (25-11-1), which is 6-1-1 in its last eight games. It was Strome's first career four-point game.
Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd scored both goals for the Jets (19-12-7). It was the first back-to-back losses for the Jets since late November. They lost to Minnesota on Monday.
Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves for the win.
Ondrej Pavelec started for the first time since rookie Michael Hutchinson was tabbed for Winnipeg's previous three games and stopped 28 shots.
LIGHTNING 5, SABRES 1
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Ondrej Palat had a goal and three assists, and Tampa Bay reclaimed the Eastern Conference lead with a win over Buffalo.
Nikita Kucherov scored twice and added an assist, and linemate Tyler Johnson set up three goals for Tampa Bay (24-11-4), which is one point ahead of the New York Islanders. Matthew Carle and Anton Stralman had two assists in helping the Lightning improve to 2-3-2 in their past seven road games.
Tyler Ennis scored the lone goal for Buffalo (14-21-3), which dropped to a 1-5-1 in its past seven. The Sabres slump has coincided with a series of injuries and illnesses that have depleted the roster.
The Lightning outshot the Sabres 14-1 in the third period and 25-11 overall.
PENGUINS 2, HURRICANES 1
PITTSBURGH -- Brandon Sutter scored the winning goal with 1:42 left to lift Pittsburgh over Carolina.
Sutter, acquired from Carolina in 2012, scored his eighth of the season. Beau Bennett, playing for the first time in 16 games, set up both Penguins' goals. Chris Kunitz netted his 11th for the Penguins, who snapped a four-game losing streak and avoided dropping back-to-back home games for the first time this season.
Eric Staal scored his ninth of the season and second in two games. The Hurricanes, who lost for the 11th time in 13 games, managed just 16 goals during that span. Carolina, which sustained its 12th one-goal loss of the season, nearly won in Pittsburgh for the second time in a little more than a month despite having one of the NHL's worst road records.
Marc-Andre Fleury, making a season-high eighth straight start, stopped 24 shots. Cam Ward made 37 saves for Carolina.
BLUE JACKETS 3, WILD 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Kevin Connauton had a goal and an assist, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves to lead Columbus past Minnesota.
With the game tied 1-1 in the third period, Columbus scored a power-play goal at 5:57.
Ryan Johansen added an empty-netter for his first goal in 12 games, and Brandon Dubinsky had two assists for Columbus, which went 10-1-1 in December. It was the third time the Blue Jackets won at least 10 games in a month.
Zach Parise scored a power-play goal for the Wild, who were 0 for 4 on the power play and have had 11 of their last 14 games decided by one goal.
RED WINGS 3, DEVILS 1
DETROIT -- Darren Helm scored two goals, and Detroit held off New Jersey.
Helm's unassisted tally with 4:25 left gave the Red Wings a two-goal cushion. Henrik Zetterberg had scored the go-ahead goal 1:24 earlier for Detroit, which got 12 saves from Jimmy Howard.
Cory Schneider made 25 saves for the Devils, whose lone goal was scored by Joe Whitney. He gave New Jersey a 1-0 lead with 4:23 remaining in the second period.
Devils forward Steve Bernier was helped off the ice late in the game after being checked at center ice by Brendan Smith.
MAPLE LEAFS 4, BRUINS 3, SO
BOSTON -- Nazem Kadri and Mike Santorelli scored in the shootout, lifting Toronto past Boston.
Phil Kessel had a goal and his 200th assist with Toronto. Leo Komarov and James van Riemsdyk also scored for the Maple Leafs, who won for just the second time in seven games.
Carl Soderberg had a goal and an assist. David Krejci and Torey Krug also scored for Boston, 3-1-1 in its past five.
Santorelli beat Tuukka Rask in the opening round of the shootout, but Krug tied it on Boston's second chance.
After Rask and Toronto's Jonathan Bernier stopped the fourth and fifth shooters, Kadri beat Rask with a backhander.
STARS 6, COYOTES 0
DALLAS -- Kari Lehtonen made 32 saves for his 30th shutout, Brett Ritchie scored in his first NHL game, and Dallas routed Arizona.
Cody Eakin and Jamie Benn each had a goal and an assist, and Alex Goligoski assisted twice as the Stars had their biggest margin of victory this season.
The game was scoreless in the second period when Ritchie checked Arizona's Sam Gagner into the right-wing boards. Ritchie then skated to the front of the net, took a pass from Travis Moen and put the puck past goalie Devan Dubnyk at 7:22.
Dallas' Colton Sceviour scored 1:03 later for a 2-0 lead.
Benn, Eakin, Ales Hemsky and Ryan Garbutt all scored third-period goals.
The Stars won their third straight, and seventh in eight games.
Arizona's three-game winning streak ended hours after the NHL board of governors approved IceArizona's sale of 51 percent of the team to Philadelphia hedge fund manager Andrew Barroway.
SHARKS 3, DUCKS 0
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Antti Niemi earned his 30th NHL shutout, and third of the season, with 28 saves, Joe Pavelski scored his second goal of the game during a two-man advantage, and San Jose blanked Anaheim.
Logan Couture added an empty-net goal with 2:05 remaining.
Frederik Andersen made 24 saves for the Ducks, who own the league's best record despite being shut out for the second time this season.
Corey Perry returned to the Anaheim lineup after missing 10 games because of a sprained knee. The Ducks are 16-7-1 this season when he is in the lineup and 8-2-5 without him. He missed five games in November with the mumps.
San Jose center Joe Thornton left with an undisclosed injury in the first period after a collision with Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner.
AVALANCHE 4, FLYERS 3, OT
DENVER -- Ryan O'Reilly scored at 4:40 of overtime, and Colorado rallied to beat Philadelphia and snap a two-game skid.
O'Reilly got a pass from defenseman Tyson Barrie and beat goalie Steve Mason with a shot just under the crossbar. It was O'Reilly's seventh of the season.
Semyon Varlamov had 26 saves. Jarome Iginla also scored for the Avalanche.
Claude Giroux, Vincent Lecavalier and Jakub Voracek scored for Philadelphia. Mason finished with 29 saves for the Flyers, who have lost three in a row.
Colorado had a 2-1 lead after two periods but Lecavalier tied it with his sixth goal 2:52 into the third. Giroux gave the Flyers a 3-2 lead.
Iginla tied it with his ninth goal at 12:48.
FLAMES 4, OILERS 3, OT
CALGARY, Alberta -- Josh Jooris scored 1:08 into overtime to lead Calgary to a wild win over Edmonton.
Jooris, who missed the previous three games because of an upper-body injury, took a pass from Jiri Hudler and put a shot into the top corner behind goalie Ben Scrivens.
Joe Colborne scored his second and third goals of the season -- all against the Oilers -- for the Flames (21-15-3), and Lance Bouma also scored. Sean Monahan and Curtis Glencross chipped in with two assists each.
Making his sixth consecutive start for the Flames, Jonas Hiller made 17 saves to improve to 13-10-2.
Matt Fraser, Jordan Eberle and Andrew Ference scored for the Oilers (8-22-8). Ben Scrivens stopped 24 shots in the loss.
