Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp to return

NHL, Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils

NEWARK, N.J. -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp will see his first game action in more than a month when he returns to the lineup Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils, coach Joel Quenneville announced.

The All-Star hasn't played since suffering a lower-body injury in a 5-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 4.

"We expect him to bring some pace, energy and play his game. He should get a normal workload and he should be ready," Quenneville said after Tuesday morning's skate. "It's a good opportunity for him to get back playing. Just add to what we've got going right now. That's what we're looking for."

Sharp, who missed 14 games, skated Tuesday on the right wing of Chicago's third forward line alongside Andrew Shaw and Bryan Bickell. Despite being a natural left wing, he isn't worried about any adjustments.

"I think you look at our roster over the past couple of years and everybody seems to play with everyone over the course of the season. I'm no different," Sharp said. "I play all three forward positions and I play defense on the power play, so I'm comfortable wherever [Quenneville] puts me and just happy to be back there."

Sharp joins a Blackhawks team that has won six straight and nine of 10. That run has catapulted them into second place in the Central Division with 37 points, one behind the St. Louis Blues, who have played one more game.
