Panthers acquire Blacker, trade Robak to Ducks

NHL, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild

SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Florida Panthers acquired defenseman Jesse Blacker from the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday for defenseman Colby Robak.

Florida also will get the Ducks' fourth-round pick in 2016 or their sixth-round pick in 2017, depending on how many games Robak plays for Anaheim.

Blacker made his NHL debut last week with the Ducks before being sent back to the team's AHL affiliate in Norfolk. He has five assists in 15 AHL games this season and was Toronto's second-round pick in the 2009 draft.

Robak had three assists and 25 penalty minutes in 42 games with the Panthers over the past four seasons. He spent most of the previous four seasons in the AHL.

Robak will join the Ducks in Minnesota for Friday's game against the Wild. If he suits up, Robak will become the 13th defenseman to play already this season for injury-riddled Anaheim.

Just two games after the Ducks acquired Eric Brewer from Tampa Bay last week, they lost the veteran for four to six weeks with a broken foot. Defensemen Ben Lovejoy and Francois Beauchemin also are out for several weeks with broken fingers.
