WASHINGTON -- Braden Holtby made the only mistake in a game of stellar saves, getting caught behind the net and practically gifting Mike Cammalleri a third-period goal in the New Jersey Devils' 1-0 win over the Washington Capitals on Friday night.

Racing behind the net to clear the puck, Holtby instead passed it straight to Cammalleri inside the right circle -- a perfect setup had the two been wearing the same color sweaters. Cammalleri easily drove his shot inside the far post with 10:22 remaining for his seventh goal of the season.

Corey Schneider made 30 saves for his first shutout of the season for the Devils, who have won two straight after a four-game skid. They also snapped the Capitals' winning four-game winning streak.

The teams combined to go 0 for 7 on power plays.

Schneider is the only goalie to have started all of his team's games this season. It was his 13th career shutout.

Holtby made 27 saves.

PENGUINS 2, MAPLE LEAFS 1

TORONTO -- Pascal Dupuis netted two goals, and Sidney Crosby reclaimed sole possession of the NHL scoring lead with an assist in Pittsburgh's win over Toronto.

The Penguins (11-3-1) bounced back from a 5-0 loss at the New York Rangers on Tuesday and killed all six Maple Leafs power plays. Toronto scored three man-advantage goals in a win over Boston on Wednesday.

Cody Franson scored a third-period goal for Toronto (9-6-2). Jonathan Bernier was solid in stopping 39 Pittsburgh shots.

Penguins backup Thomas Greiss made 30 saves, including 13 in the third period.

BLUE JACKETS 4, FLYERS 3

PHILADELPHIA -- James Wisniewski and Nick Foligno both scored two goals, and Columbus snapped a nine-game losing streak by topping Philadelphia.

Ryan Johansen had four assists for the Blue Jackets, who tallied three goals on the power play and avoided a team record for consecutive losses.

Jakub Voracek, Claude Giroux and Michael Del Zotto scored for Philadelphia, which had won three straight but hadn't played in nearly a week.

Foligno broke a 2-2 tie with 10:13 left in the second period. Wisniewski put Columbus up 4-2 just under four minutes later when he scored during a 5-on-3 advantage.

Del Zotto brought Philadelphia within 4-3 just over a minute into the final period.

Columbus' Curtis McElhinney stopped 24 shots. Steve Mason made 34 saves for Philadelphia.

The game marked the return of Columbus forward Scott Hartnell, who had 326 points in seven seasons as a popular member of the Flyers before being traded during the offseason.

ISLANDERS 4, PANTHERS 3, SO

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Kyle Okposo scored the deciding goal in the shootout, and the New York Islanders beat Florida for their fifth straight victory.

Nikolay Kulemin, Ryan Strome and John Tavares had goals in regulation for New York, and Jaroslav Halak stopped 35 shots. Frans Nielsen also scored in the shootout.

Aaron Ekblad, Jimmy Hayes and Brian Campbell scored for Florida, and Vincent Trocheck had two assists. Roberto Luongo made 30 saves.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored the only goal in the shootout for Florida. The Panthers scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the third period to tie it.

RED WINGS 4, BLACKHAWKS 1

DETROIT -- Johan Franzen and Tomas Tatar both scored during Detroit's dominant second period, and the Red Wings beat Chicago.

Franzen scored his fifth goal, with an assist from Henrik Zetterberg, at 4:49 of the second to break a 1-1 tie. Tatar added his fifth 1:10 later when he sent in a rebound of Joakim Andersson's shot. The Blackhawks were outshot 20-8 in the period.

The two-goal lead was plenty for Jimmy Howard, who stopped 25 shots for his seventh victory.

Luke Glendening put Detroit on the board six minutes in when he backhanded a rebound of Drew Miller's shot past Corey Crawford, who finished with 32 saves. Patrick Kane scored Chicago's lone goal during a power play later in the first.

Brendan Smith put the game away with an empty-net goal.
