TORONTO -- Derek Stepan returned to the New York Rangers' lineup Saturday night against Toronto after missing the first 12 games of the season because of a broken left leg. Stepan fractured his left fibula in a preseason game. "He's been chewing my ears off for about a week here to get back playing," coach Alain Vigneault said. "We've just been really smart about this, being on the safe side." Stepan moved into the No. 2 center spot on a line with Chris Kreider and Mats Zuccarello. Stepan had 17 goals and 40 assists last season.
