Don't fire the coach!

Slow starts might be leading front offices in places like Carolina, Buffalo and several cities throughout Canada to consider a coaching change -- but don't do it!

A closer look at the historical numbers suggests that some of the most disappointing teams will correct themselves with a little more time, which can also be used to find out what's really going wrong with the others.

On the surface, it may appear that early-season coaching changes have a track record of success, such as Philadelphia's early abandonment of Peter Laviolette after just three games last season, but appearances can be deceiving. There actually are very good reasons why such moves are so uncommon.
